This is a recent poem. I actually wrote it a couple days ago while riding in the truck with my husband. It was partially inspired by the song The Other Side by Norwegian artist Aleksander With. Music has always spoken to me, this time it was this song.
You want to be like me but
Do you want to know my other side?
You say I’m strong and independent
Do you want to know what’s on the other side?
The weakness I suffer, the dependency I cannot shake
You see me happy, experience my kindness
Do you want to know what’s on the other side?
Live in my misery, receive my anger
You think me fearless and brave
Do you want to know what’s on the other side?
Choked by my fears, hurt by my cowardice
You believe me resilient and personable
Do you want to know what’s on the other side?
Drown in my tears, feel my loneliness
You want to be like me but,
Do you want to know my other side?
