Once again we have some daily prompts. Today’s prompt is about Time Travel; specifically what year I’d want to travel to. Thing is, I’m not sure I could pick just one year. There’s so much that I’m curious about that I would just need The TARDIS, the Doctor would be optional, though having a time traveling guide would be very helpful.
While there is no event in my past, or families past that I would want to change as they have all led me to where I am currently, which is married to a spouse I love and training dogs for public access so they can eventually be transferred to veterans who need service animals. I wouldn’t trade this for anything, but there are stories of events that I wouldn’t mind watching from afar.
Like going back to September of 1948, when my grandparents on my father’s side were married. How did grandpa respond when he didn’t know German? How did he know what to respond to? What was the service like? Did he looked confused? So many questions that while I know what story I was told. It would be something else to have seen it in person.
Or fast forward several years after the wall was built in Germany. There was a famous factory that made china and the like on the eastern side, and no-one that visited was allowed to take it back to the western side. What was that like? Why did my great-grandmother decide to bring some items back? How did sneak them past the train guard?
There’s several more years, and experiences that while I’ve heard the stories, to just be able to see them in person would add a whole new perspective on things. Then there’s the future, and all those questions to be asked and answered. Though I think I have to say, I’m not sure I want to know the answers, especially if I don’t like them. While knowing the future could allow me to change the outcome, on the other hand, knowing the future might cause me to inadvertently change the outcome.
So I guess my final answer would be that there are a lot of times and places I would like to see and visit. I don’t think I’d want to stay, but at least visit. Hopefully one day The Doctor with his big blue box known as The TARDIS, will come and take me off to these places. Though … I do think that is just a bit of wishful thinking.
